FAQ — Gold, Silver & Coin Buying Questions for Lexington NC Residents

Have questions before you visit? Here are answers to the most common questions we get from Lexington, NC and Davidson County customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is your shop from Lexington, NC?

We are located at 605 Walnut St SW in Winston-Salem, NC — approximately 20 minutes from downtown Lexington via Hwy 64 West. The drive is easy and straightforward.

Do I need an appointment?

No — walk-ins are always welcome during business hours (Mon–Fri 10am–5:30pm, Sat 10am–3pm). If you have a very large collection or estate, it may be helpful to call ahead so we can give you our full attention.

How do you determine what you’ll pay for my gold?

We base gold prices on the current gold spot price and the karat/purity of your gold (10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, 24k). We test everything in front of you using professional testing equipment and a certified scale. We pay 75–90% of melt value — much higher than pawn shops.

Do I have to sell if I get an evaluation?

Absolutely not. Our evaluations are completely free and there is never any pressure to sell. We want you to leave feeling informed, whether you sell or not.

What coins are worth the most money?

Coins made of gold or silver have melt value regardless of collector interest. Beyond that, rare dates, low mintage coins, early US coins (pre-1900), and certified high-grade coins can be worth significantly more than melt. We evaluate both intrinsic and numismatic value for every coin.

Do you buy silver flatware and silverware sets?

Yes — we buy sterling silver (.925) flatware by weight. The value depends on the total silver content. We do not buy silver-plated items (those have little to no silver value).

What forms of payment do you offer?

We pay cash for all purchases. For very large transactions, we may offer a check. Payment is made on the spot the same day.
